Exhibition, Not an Excuse: Seattle U Hoops Opens at Oregon

Seattle U Redhawks Oregon Ducks

Honey, the basketball calendar just winked at us. It doesn’t count in the standings — but it absolutely counts for vibes, minutes, and who can actually run a pick-and-roll in October.

Seattle University men’s basketball opens its 2026-27 look with an exhibition at Oregon tonight at 7:00 p.m. PT at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene. Stream it on B1G+. Official Redhawks schedule stamps it exhibition; Emerald City Spectrum frames it as the season’s first public peek before the real opener at Hawai‘i on Nov. 2.

This is a new-look backcourt story. Per ECS, Brayden Maldonado, Jojo Murphy, and John Christofilis are gone; Maleek Arington and Jeremiah Harshman are the returning guard names, with Arington’s eligibility still under an NCAA-related cloud. Portal additions include Tyler Boston (Holy Cross), Mason Williams (Iowa State), and Kaden Hansen (Saint Martin’s), plus a freshman class ready to audition. Coach’s whiteboard meets open casting call.

Oregon hosts; Seattle U measures itself against a Power conference environment before the WCC gauntlet. No official box score drama yet — just position battles, chemistry checks, and the chance to see who wants the keys. Exhibition or not, 7 p.m. on B1G+ is appointment viewing if you care about Redhawk hoops. I do. So should you.
